The fun begins...

Late January it hit.... CABIN FEVER!! I needed green, plants growing, sunshine on my back, a warm breeze, gentle rains. What I received, freezing cold, blowing Arctic wind and blinding snow or even better, freezing rain. There was one item on the wish list that could come true, growing plants... but first I needed seeds!!

Where to buy, so many choices, so many catalogs but wait... yes that's the one, full color pictures, heirlooms, and a rainbow of tomatoes. I picked up my Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds catalog and began to hunt.

Alphabetical order, got to love it, okay lets see... amaranth, sounds fun.. artichoke& cardoons, maybe.. Asian beans, why not... asparagus, hmm takes to long maybe later...BEANS!!, yes must have beans, what kind, what kind.. that one looks good... and that one.. so does that.... *sigh* this is going to be harder than I thought.

Okay lets see... beans, beets, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, corn, cucumber, skip the eggplant, greens, melons, pumpkins, tomatoes, herbs.... and the grand total *gasp*.... hmm I guess I could leave out a few items.

There I was, a list of about 1000 seeds and a husband giving me the "look". I really hate the "look". Fine, no one really likes the beets, I can't live without 6 different beans, I have to have the purple carrots, and come on.. 7 tomatoes plants are not that much, I mean haven't you ever wanted to try white tomatoes... no.. why not??? No I don't think store bought tomatoes are just fine. Think of all the money we'll save.. why are you giving me the "look"?
Let's see, I ended up at around 36 packages plus two freebies... I love freebies.. and a bill for..gulp...$103.... um, honey?

Now for the trays and starter soil. I suppose late January really is too early to start seedlings but hold on a sec, YES, onions and leeks need to be started early.

So I begin...
